Exam alignment
How Unlocked maps to the official NY DOS syllabus
The actual NYS exam questions are confidential. The official 77-hour course syllabus, which every approved school must teach, is public. We treat course-hour allocation as the most defensible proxy for exam weight, audit our content against it, and publish the gaps. This page is the full audit, run live against our current question bank.

AlignedMethodology
- Source. NY Department of State, Division of Licensing Services, official 2022 Real Estate Salesperson Syllabus (the curriculum every approved 77-hour course must teach).
- Weighting proxy. The state does not publish a per-topic exam weighting. We use course hours as the most defensible approximation: subjects allocated more curriculum time tend to receive more exam questions.
- What this is not. This is not a leaked exam blueprint. It is a transparent mapping between our practice content and the public curriculum standard.
- Question authoring. Every question in our bank is authored from primary sources: NY Real Property Law, General Obligations Law, Executive Law Article 15, the federal Fair Housing Act, RESPA, Regulation Z, and IRS sections 121 and 1031. We never reproduce questions from commercial test banks or course providers.
- Live audit. The numbers above are computed at request time from the current question bank. As we ship questions, the audit updates automatically.
